Monday Lunch

A long view of the coffee bar area, looking towards the Restaurant with a lower level by the glass wall for cocktails and cool drinks.

Vibrant orchid on carpet. Front of Cocktail Bar

Sultry Miss behind the Coffee Bar. The bright carpet and purple chairs are a quilt inspiration.

Wall with a statement, Black and White on a Lime green wall with Orange stools underneath art work. A visual feast.

Floating multicoloured lighting. Funky Chair on carpet, lights from above reflected on chair arm.

Met C. at Caloundra R.S.L. for a late Lunch, they have done yet again another upgrade/renovation, this time the Restaurant Area, we were too late to lunch in the restaurant, so had a nice lunch in the bistro area, guys had T.Bone steaks and sauces, the Neptune sauce came complete with large prawns, I had a chicken salad, more food than one person needed for lunch but yummy, ate most of it so couldn't face dinner, G had a snack, easy day cooking.
Manager urged us to go view the Restaurant, my God, what a visual overload, wandering around taking pics and noticed C. was no where in sight, turned up a bit later, he had been interviewed by local t.v. on his reaction to the venue. As he manages another local venu/restaurant I would love to see the interview, but we cannot get local t.v. reception where we are.

A Busy end of week

Lots of quilting for the last of the week, finished another 6 HoH blocks, assembled the top with 1st. Border. Now have to choose border style and fabrics.

1st border on my Roosting Robin, not really happy with the 3 colours in the border, one being too dark but driving not a good idea, so made do, am still to do the quilting on the center, better get a move on.

Finished Grandson's quilt, will have that to him next weekend. This was inspired by a quilt that Helen had in her shop, just the right idea to extend a small amount of pictorial fabric into a quilt top. In the meantime Grandie has moved on from Snowboarders to Pirates. Such is Life.

Gardener came Thursday, still doesn't want to do work as asked, always with the excuses, that boy should wake up that he is on a short leash, if I have to be out in the sun to weed, betcha boots I will start doing it at night and do the rest as well and poof, no more job.

Beautiful Bird of Paradise Flowers, Front Yard S&S's Home

Lunch on Sat with some long term friends from Melb, up on Hols, sadly she is fighting a breast cancer battle, very positive attitude but still scared. Had her first Chemo. 3 weeks ago and hair is starting to fall. Flew home on Sun for another bout of Chemo. will be back next month, have promised lots of girly lunches and a trip to "Gusto", a fabulous Noosa Restaurant.

C phoned, looking for a favourite pair of shorts he had asked me to mend.....again....I'll be there in 20 he says, arghhh, where were they, how to mend? how to mend and keep them looking respectable! remembered the fake mends on grandies new jeans, went for that look and was reasonably successful, finished and waiting by the time C arrived. He has new girl, a NICE girl he tells us, Oh please let it be so, they were off to the beach for Fish and Chips with a nice bottle of chilled champers. Lovely.

Cupcakes and Biccies, an amazing take on the old favourite, Anzacs, with Crasins, Apricots, Almonds and a heavy dose of Cinnamon - YUM

Sun, up early, really early, baked cupcakes and biccies for arvo tea with the Grandies and support team. Barely home and they called, want to come back for Pizza? - Why not. S had bought the most amazing apron, paid $60 for it, a real cutie but I ask you $60 for an apron, S wants me to make some for her friends, sure, can do but "you have to choose the fabric" These things are only as cute as the fabrics used.

The boys have a re-vamp on their toy room, lots of toys culled, and they have to pick up behind themselves, finish with a toy, put it away, seems to be working but not sure for how long.

Heart of Heartford

After having got the wrong end of the stick..yep again, when in doubt don't read, just jump right in..........I ended up with 6 blue and white, 10" Hope of Hartford blocks, wadda ya do with 6 blocks?, well obviously you make 6 more and turn them into a quilt, and in the spirit of "Thou shalt not start without finishing another WIP in the year 2008", I have to forge ahead and finish this quilt, problem being their isn't any more fabric to be had in the right shade of pale blue, so, after listening to suggestions I narrowed it down to the same block (HoH) with different colours, BUT, did I want a different colour scheme or same subtle, blue on blue scheme. Well I've gone for the same dark and white with the pale script fabric in the center. This should produce a very subtle if not boring little quilt, time will tell.

Border and Footpath

Found that I needed to fudge the oblong border for the Roosting Robin, what I envisioned didn't work out so version 2. Still need to add the extra leaves and do some creative machine quilting. Maybe this arvo.

Sunshine Coast Get Together

Met some scquilters for the first time today at the Sunny GTG, organised by Leonie Gittens, everyone had a great time, lots of coffee, cake and 'chantelle' followed by shopping, then of course, lunch and more shopping. Wouldn't have believed I could spend the better part of the day having such fun. I was the only one with a camera and was asked to load the pics onto the site, well with G's help they are there, wonders will never cease. first a blog and now pics on scquilters
A few pic of the lovely ladies, note to self: next time take a group pic.

Leonie and Pru with Pru's Australiana quilt, I really didn't get a good view of this one.

Del with her beautiful wallhanging, silk flowers, iridescent butterflies and lots of metallic thread quilting

Leonie with her bargello quilt, she had quilted an all over design including flowers on her new APQ longarm quilter. Leonie would be a good try to have the wedding quilt done with the topographical map of Greece. She has said she will have a look at it. Great

Krys, who had driven up from Brisbane and Jan from Palmwoods

Shirley Shimbel with her Farewell quilt from her Denver group, a beautiful quilt

Prue up here on hols from W.A. with a bag made for her by some scquilters, grateful for her arranging accommodation for the Bendigo retreat

Lucky Me,

was browsing the net, looking at MP3 players, one in particular that had been recommended by a quilter, G knowing I have very little patience for the techno world, offered to do some research on the technical side for me, just getting my head around the way things work sometimes (most times) gives me the willy wallies, so he wanted something I could use easily. Anyway the upshot is:-
Meet my new toy!!!

It is very sleek and stylish, a samsung T10 and on its function screens, there is a cute little black and white dog, called of all things, Sammy, I reckon that is why G bought it for me, a toy called Sammy to go with my black and white dog Sammy, whom I love dearly, (I must do to put up with her current widdling illness).
I have been listening to Alex Andersons Podcasts all week, its the only way to clean house, next step is to download some music and a podiobook or two
Walked the yard before the rains came (again), the little garden man was here yesterday so all is looking spiffy, took a few piccies of flowers and leaves.

G decided that it was time to wash down the house, so out with the pressure jet thingy, and voila, beautiful shinny house. Oh, yeah, and I did the windows, listening to Alex of course!

Working on this week

Have had a pretty ordinary week with a 3 day flare, getting over it today, so not too much done on the quilting front, have been working on ideas for the R/Robin 1st. border which is to include rectangles, am thinking of making the right border wider than the left, top and bottom and bringing oblong pavers along the bottom into the right border and flowing into the center to form a path. Wonder if that would qualify as rectangles in border?

Have also worked on various blocks:-

and some that I hope look like Ginger Jars

And a couple of hearts just for good measure.

A Late Christmas

We put Christmas on hold this year because of G's surgery. so we had a christmas gathering last Sat. , some of the family couldn't make it so there will be another day in the near future. There were 12 of us with 6 dogs who got rather excited and went racing through the house hotly pursued by 3 grandies, thankfully they all soon tired themselves out with Miss. M having a well earned rest on the couch, here she is with her "please don't tell Mum I'm on the couch" look.

Princess Miss. L was regal in her purple princess frock, please note attendant to the side.

The youngest munchkin was ever so pleased with himself in his new cap and with a new 4x4 and trailer toy to boot.

I kept the food simple for a change, with a wonderful roast lamb dish from "falling Cloudberries" by Tessa Kiros that could be put on to roast well before hand and a layered Chicken Salad with a creamy light dressing holding the center stage

The potatoes are cooked in with the lamb and soak up the wonderful flavours from the oregano, lemon juice and olive oil
